William in America is Joan Weisman’s fifth book for young people. In 1935, two brothers, Henry (age eleven) and Arnold (age fourteen), were rescued from Hitler’s Germany and brought to live with Joan’s family in Detroit. Sadly, their parents and baby brother were killed by the Nazis. When Henry and Arnold grew up, they fought in World War II against Germany. After the War, the two young men returned to Detroit, married and had successful careers.
